One of My Interests……V8 CARS – old & new

On my time off (not that I have had allot of that lately, hehe), but one thing my family and friends know about me is, that I love Fast V8 cars and rally driving too. Not sure where it all came from but having an older brother and dad that liked fast cars probably helped this influence. As I grew older, this interest grew and then having a few boyfriends who loved V8’s too helped keep my interests in them.

When I was little, It started with match box cars of Transam’s, Lamborghini’s, Corvette’s, Porsche etc. With my Dad having an Alfa Romeo for a while (until he rolled it down a street, where I’m living now hehe) luckily he walked away from that smash, the car was not as lucky though. I liked the old American Muscle cars, then I got into the HOLDEN’s and HSV’s. I also liked the old – Manaro’s, XY, GTHO Falcon’s, Torana’s, Ford Coupe’s, Brock and HDT Commodore’s, I had a boyfriend at the time who liked to buy old V8’s fix them up and get them looking HOT and running FAST and well, then sell them from time to time, so I got to drive most of them, so that was fun!

I brought my first V8 which was about my fourth car that I had owned from getting my Driver’s Licence, but I finally convinced Mum that I would drive it responsibly and remain in one piece, which was a VL Calais 5Ltr, which I got lowered and changed the rims and tyres on it, it was a reasonably fast car and being my first V8 not a bad one to start with and for me being a GIRL hehe. I then sold that after a few years and brought a VN Calais 5.7Ltr which had a chip in it, think it was an x cop car, so that was a good step up at the time and I had that for a few years then sold it.

I then had a normal (girls car! Doh) then got sick of that pretty quickly and brought a VR HSV Senator 215kw, which was my baby, I still had another other car at the same time, so my HSV lived under covers all clean during the week, I would take the covers off on the weekend, go for a burn to Fremantle or Cottesloe down the coast, sometimes taking my girlfriends and occasionally taking off fast from the lights to give them a thrill, which they encouraged here and there!! Hehe and of course I was only too happy to oblige!!! Lol.

I had this car for a number of years but ended up selling it as I brought a house and didn’t have the space for two cars anymore, also it was a bit expensive having two cars and the petrol prices were going up pretty quickly back then, but I do miss that car and hope to have another V8 very soon….although I have been saying recently that my next car will be a New Jeep Wrangler 4WD (convertable) whoohoo!! can’t wait.

Later on here, I might tell you about my Rally Driving which is my other car love. I’m hoping to buy a Rally Car in the not so distant future to burn around with and maybe enter some local Rally Driving Club for some weekend fun too!!
